Y’all… you guys are the best. I can’t thank you enough for all of your wonderful words yesterday. I was being super whiny and by the end of the day felt a little like I was throwing myself a pity-party but I am SO thankful for all of your sweet comments. Here were a few of my big take-aways:
“I repeat the lines of a country song, “It sounds like life to me, this ain’t no fantasy. I hear you talkin’ like you’re caught up in some big tragedy – but it just sounds like life to me.”"
- Martha
my best friend and idol in pretty much everything… she tells it to me straight
“You’ve just made it through another day, which is a victory in itself.”
- JoAnna
fellow running college friend with insight galore
“Messy houses just means that M is a very loved baby!”
- Stef
my friend turned cousin who is in the same boat as me!
“The alternatives have their own share of work…”
- Michele
college friend of the husband turned bloggy friend of mine. she understands the grad-student husband thing!
“You may not think you are getting everything done, but you are getting the important things done.”
- My very own Momma
no explanation needed. she’s the best.
“That’s what I was suspecting, you’re at the “I can’t even hit the bare minimum” phase. It will get better.”
- Rachel
college friend turned natural parenting guru in my book!
“… through all the frustrating times, you will become closer as a family. You just need to find the balance. It does exist.”
- Kathy
college friend, virtual running buddy, down-to-earth awesomeness
“You are his mom- in his eyes you are perfect, beautiful and exactly what he will look for in a wife someday!”
- Laura

Seriously y’all… you rock. Today is another day. I must add though… my husband is a rockstar. For those that suggested he help out a bit more: no can dosville baby!* He already does everything and he does it willingly! I have been blessed with an amazing husband.
Moving along… thanks again!
*If you can place that phrase, then we really are friends!
Guess what friends?!? APRIL 15th IS HERE! I could never put into words how glorious the day is, so just believe me that it.is.awesome.
Yes it is.
I have some time off now and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Not to mention, I have my Saturdays to myself again. Oh, and anything past 5pm. It’s the little things, right?
A few things coming up soon:
my spring bucket list
a new design challenge {or two or four}
running update
a post for Colleen’s working mom’s linkup
maybe even a tax-season recap.
because recaps are so fun.
Until then!
Another week, another quick takes.
Tax season. Seriously, that’s all. Can’t I stop at one? No? Ok. How about M’s tooth is finally starting to pop through! It’s broken skin, but not really visible yet.
My good friend wrote a beautiful piece on being a working mom. I won’t share the link because she keeps her blog close to her heart, but she talked about “outsourcing” and mom guilt and yuppies with Bobs and so many wonderful things. It was just what I needed to read this morning. I hope to share more later.
Ashley‘s penpal project is wonderful. She sent me a little surprise yesterday in her efforts to encourage more of us women in what we do… Perfect timing. It was such a sweet gesture. I am definitely more encouraged today! Not to mention, I am totally blown away by her generosity.
So after those last two, I must say I am inspired to keep plugging along. My house may be messy, I may fight getting out of bed in the morning, but I’m a good mom doing the best I can.
I can’t believe Lent is almost over. This is the first year I did simple sacrifices and didn’t guilt myself for not doing a crazy bread and water fast. I’m at peace with it. However, J and I are horribly behind on our efforts to read The Divine Comedy {I’ll share our plan with that later!}
OH GUESS WHAT? The Shabby Apple Giveaway is over and the winner is Kirby! I’ll send you an email with details!
As next week is Holy Week, I’ll be taking a bit of a blog break. A chance to recharge and focus on work, my family, and my faith. I’ll be back in Easter, don’t you fret!
In the meantime, you can follow me on twitter, facebook and instagram.
Linking up with Jen, as per usual.
Lately, when I’m not working, I tend to just laze around the house. I try to do little chores like washing bottles or doing diaper laundry, but letsbehonest here, I often am being a bum. Especially on the weekends. After working {full + over time} and running and blogging and taking care of the baby, I veg.
J and I always joke about how much we love bed. Some of our best days are spent in our PJs, watching old tv shows and chatting about nothing in particular. Often we end up playing silly games on our phones. Heck, if we could, we would probably spend our time playing CheekyBingo as well. Little M usually spends the time in between us in bed just playing with our pillows and “talking” away. No matter what, relaxing is in order.
Ever have days like that? Ones where you just want to bum around and clear your head? In my goal to simplify my life, I’m trying to minimize wasting time without letting go of the necessary relaxation days. Sometimes it is just what is needed to really reset and recharge.

I'm just a girl blogging about all things that make me smile. I'm a wife, a new mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. I'm an atypical accountant and a new-found domestic. I spend my days trying to balance work, raising a baby, time with the husband and at home, and time for myself. I love reading books, baking, decorating and sewing.
