Penguin Classics have been through the blogger world thousands of times, but I just came across these graphic deluxe covers and I just couldn’t resist. J and I are big collectors {once we’ve started a set of books we just HAVE to complete it} so I think we should probably stay away from these for a while…

Aren’t they fun? I’m usually a sucker for classic looking covers, but a silly one every so often is good too! The rest can be found over on Penguin’s site. Which one is your favorite? I would certainly buy some of these books simply for their cover, even if they aren’t my favorite book of the bunch…

How wonderful is this little book? I’ve told you before that I have very little artistic ability, so having a stockpile of stencils would be oh-so-very useful! Could you imagine all of the little projects that can be done now that you can draw things?!?

Some may call it cheating, I call it sheer genius. You can find the 100 Shapes Book over at Uncommon Goods, a store that has occupied so much of my time as of late.  What shape would you like to see in the book? I’m hoping there’s a bicycle.

Oh my what a week! Another great big thanks to my two guest posters this week. I absolutely love having friends stop by and take over for a day! This week was quite a bit hectic and nothing like I had expected at all {more on that later} but there were definitely some shining moments! A few things that kept me smiling…

toasted almond iced coffee
reading {and finishing} an excellent book
chilly morning weather perfect for sleeping
peaches

two beautiful baby boys being born
{shout-out to Cade and Patrick!}

Tell me, what made you merry this week?

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

You may remember that a little while ago I asked for some help when it came to choosing an audio book to listen to while I was working. I decided to go with Mansfield Park. Before this book I had read Pride & Prejudice, Persuasion (my favorite) and Emma. I wasn’t so sure about Mansfield Park, but it was a wonderful read!

Fanny Price is a quiet, humble and modest young girl who lives with her aunt and uncle (and spoiled cousins) at Mansfield Park. The story follows her as she grows into a young woman, falling in love and breaking hearts.  Like any other Jane Austen novel there is an elopement, a proposal turned down and that wonderful moment when the love interest of the heroine realizes that he loves her too. Some of the characters you find annoying in the beginning grow on you by the end of the book.  I think my favorite part of the story is when Fanny realizes the true meaning of what home is.

Have you read Mansfield Park? What did you think?

Oh and what’s your favorite Austen novel? I love knowing everyone’s favorites!

Tonight I am heading to the library to pick out a few audio books to listen to while I’m working during tax season (to avoid my mind going to mush). Does anyone have any good ideas? Here are a few that I’m considering…

Three down, three to go!

Don’t tell anyone… but I’ve never read this.

or maybe something a little more epic (and a little less girly) like this one…

add some excitement and adventure to my dull work days

What do you think? I’m awaiting your suggestions!
